Our Story

This is How We Started! From Indonesia to The World

It All Started in a Turkish Spice Market

Back then, I was just a student in Turkey, busy with classes and adjusting to life abroad.

I wasn’t thinking about building a business.

But sometimes, opportunity finds you in unexpected ways.

One day, a spice seller in the Turkish market asked me,

“Hey, you’re from Indonesia, right? Can you find me pure vanilla beans from your country?”

At the time, I had no clue how vanilla was grown or even where to find it.

But something clicked inside me. That simple question became the spark that changed everything.

Summer 2018 – Back to Indonesia, with a Mission

That summer, during my break, I flew back home to Indonesia.

But this time, I wasn’t just visiting family, I was on a mission to find vanilla.

I started traveling around, asking questions, meeting people. Eventually, I found myself standing in the middle of a vanilla farm in Central Java.

I still remember the moment I held a fresh green vanilla bean for the first time.

It didn’t smell like much yet, but I felt its potential.

I talked with farmers. I listened to their stories.

And I thought to myself:

“This isn’t just a spice. This is a story waiting to be told.”

I returned to Turkey with a small batch of vanilla beans just enough to test the waters.

I gave samples to a few Turkish chefs and spice shops.

And to my surprise… they loved it.

The quality was there. The aroma was rich. The origin? Unique.

No one expected high grade vanilla from Indonesia.

That’s when I started selling, little by little while still attending university.

Packing orders from my dorm room. Juggling class during the day and customers at night.

It was small, but it was real.

And most importantly it was mine.

Coming Home to Build Something Bigger

After finishing my studies, I came back to Indonesia with a new vision.

This time, I wasn’t just sourcing vanilla. I wanted to build the ecosystem from the ground up.

I reconnected with the farmers I had met in 2018.

I learned more about the curing process, harvest timing, and all the details that separate average vanilla from excellent vanilla.

We worked side by side. We improved post harvest practices. We paid fair prices.

And we started laying the foundation for what would become Prime Vanilla.

The Birth of Prime Vanilla

From a small dorm room business in Istanbul…

to a farmer first vanilla company in Indonesia.

We officially launched Prime Vanilla under PT Baharat Prime Indonesia with one big mission:

“To bring the world Indonesia’s finest vanilla, while honoring the farmers who grow it.”

We built curing rooms. Set quality standards.

Created traceability systems. Developed export procedures.

And slowly but surely we grew.

We joined expos like Gulfood – The World’s Biggest F&B Event Dubai, THAIFEX – Anuga Asia Bangkok, TEI ( Trade Expo Indonesia ) and WorldFood Istanbul .

We met chefs, distributors, and flavor houses from all over the world.

We upgraded our packaging.

We refined our grading.

We built relationships and earned trust.

And our vanilla beans were flying to Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.

With Our Farmer

We believe in transparency. That’s why every export is traceable back to the farmers who grew it.

We started sharing behind the scenes content on social media:

• Curing sessions

• Sun drying moments

• Farmer faces and stories

Because Prime Vanilla isn’t just about flavor.

It’s about people.

Today, we mentor farmers.

We train them on best practices from pollination to post harvest.

We’ve even started developing extract, powder, and paste for the Horeca and B2B market.

We’re not just exporting. We’re empowering.

We’re not just growing vanilla. We’re growing a movement.

Now in 2025, we’re exporting to multiple countries and more importantly, we’re doing it with pride and purpose.

Because for me, this isn’t just about business.

It’s about showing the world what Indonesia is capable of.

It’s about changing the way people see, smell, and value vanilla.

When someone opens a pouch of Prime Vanilla, I want them to feel it:

The aroma of Indonesia.

The dedication of our farmers.

The soul of the journey.

From that one question in a Turkish market…

To one bean…

To one box…

To now a global brand.

“If you do things with heart and honesty, the world will taste it one vanilla bean at a time.”

I’ve poured my heart into every pod. This is what passion looks like!

Thank you for being part of this journey.

Let’s keep bringing the aroma of Indonesia to the world.
